RAID PURPOSE.
A complete Warden DPS loadout starts with a job: kill the boss, hold Brittle, cover the group or clear the next pack. Build for that job, then prove the result.
01 / Choose your Warden DPS setup
This ESO Warden DPS build U50 starts with a verified 186,895 Magicka parse, then builds a practical endgame loadout around the job your group needs: boss damage, frost support, Banner coverage or fast trash clears. The 183,029 Stamina reference is a separate tested option, not a weaker character you need to abandon.

Recommended starting point: pure Warden, no Banner, Magicka boss setup. Add the raid modifications only after the raid lead confirms your assignment. A clear role is more valuable than wearing every situational set at once.
02 / Warden DPS: the verified Live parses
Open the damage capture · Open the equipment capture
Open the damage capture · Open the equipment capture
These are published Hyperioxes CMX results, not Alpha Squad test runs. “187K” and “183K” are rounded labels. Both show a Live client and no Banner on the displayed bars. The gap is not a controlled Magicka-versus-Stamina comparison: the tests were recorded on different dates and client versions.
Treat the numbers as reproducible reference points, not expected trial DPS. A raid adds movement, target changes, downtime, mechanics, group buffs and survival requirements. This guide assigns no invented DPS number to the Banner, Brittle or trash adaptations.
Primary references: Hyperioxes Magicka Warden and Hyperioxes Stamina Warden.
03 / U50 mechanics that change the build
Patch scope: Update 50 Live, checked 20 September 2026. U51 PTS changes are excluded. In particular, do not import an upcoming Arctic Blast increase or heavy-attack Aerie’s Cry marking into a U50 setup.
- Pure class: retain all three Warden class lines to use Class Masteries. Choose two of the five mastery passives. Subclassing changes that premise.
- Damage masteries: Wild Adaptation provides 333 Weapon and Spell Damage per different status effect on the enemy, up to 1,665. Glacial Obstinance can grant 15% Weapon and Spell Damage for 10 seconds when its heal leaves you at full Health.
- Support mastery: Tundra’s Maw applies short Major Brittle windows when you inflict Chilled. Its roughly two-second duration makes measured uptime important.
- Signet after U50 Inc.1: its PvE status-effect bonus caps at 133% with 133 stored Ultimate. An active bear halves the bonus to 66.5%; it does not double the required Ultimate.
- Scribing terminology: the former Class Mastery script is called Class Flourish in U50. It is different from the new passive mastery choices.
Rules above: official U50 launch notes and official U50 Inc.1 notes. The older 170% Signet tooltip still visible in some databases is not the value used here.
Why frost and status effects matter
Glacial Presence improves Chilled application, while Piercing Cold boosts Frost damage. Nature’s Gift restores both resources from Green Balance overhealing, which helps explain the value of Lotus Blossom beyond its critical buffs. These interactions make bar changes consequential: removing a convenient-looking heal can also change sustain.
04 / Warden DPS boss gear
The Magicka Warden DPS reference uses five Medium and two Light armor pieces. The slot layout below follows the CMX equipment capture. Set icons identify the set; they are not a claim that every slot has the same item artwork.

¹ The CMX jewelry tooltip is abbreviated to “Multi-Effect Enchantment.” Weapon and Spell Damage glyphs are the practical recommendation here; the capture does not establish the exact secondary enchantment effects. This is not presented as a perfect transcription of that hidden tooltip.
Check the set count before upgrading
- Aerie’s Cry: five body pieces, active on both bars.
- Null Arca: shoulder, necklace, ring and two daggers give five pieces on the front bar; three remain on the back bar.
- Maelstrom: the greatsword counts as both pieces of its arena set on the back bar.
- Slimecraw + Signet: one piece each. This is a one-piece monster bonus, not the two-piece Slimecraw effect.
What each damage set is doing
Aerie’s Cry marks one enemy through light attacks. Keep that mark on the priority target; frequent target switching makes the set harder to exploit. Null Arca rewards critical damage events. Merciless Charge is activated by Stampede and supports the direct-damage portion of the rotation. Signet rewards status effects and stored Ultimate, so indiscriminate Ultimate use can undermine the gear plan.
Farm order: Aerie’s Cry comes from Infinite Archive; Null Arca from Lucent Citadel; the Maelstrom weapon from Maelstrom Arena; Slimecraw from Wayrest Sewers I; Signet through Antiquities. Get usable traits and complete sets before chasing every perfected bonus. The non-perfected arena and trial versions are stepping stones, not the exact gear behind the quoted parse.
05 / Magicka Warden DPS: skills and scripts
Race: High Elf in the source setup. Attributes: 64 Magicka. Mundus: The Thief. Weapons: dual daggers / greatsword. Keep Wild Guardian on both bars.

Scripted skills display their official grimoire icons: Chilling Knife uses Traveling Knife; Chilling Contingency uses Ulfsild’s Contingency. Their names describe the selected scripts, not separate morphs you can purchase from a class skill line.
06 / Stamina Warden DPS: the 183K option
This Stamina Warden DPS alternative follows the second Live CMX reference. Use Dark Elf, 64 Stamina and The Thief. Keep the same sets and weapon arrangement, change the Aerie’s Cry waist to Medium, and use Maximum Stamina armor glyphs: six Medium pieces and one Light Slimecraw head.

Do not mix the two Scorch morphs. Subterranean Assault and Deep Fissure are alternatives, not two skills you can slot together. Magicka and Stamina labels describe the main resource setup; they do not mean every skill must cost that resource.
The documented Stamina Warden DPS setup uses Hearty Garlic Corn Chowder and a Weapon Power potion. Retain enough Stamina for a required block or dodge. A clean resource bar on a stationary dummy does not prove safe sustain during a mechanic-heavy pull.
07 / Warden DPS rotation and Ultimate control
Magicka Warden DPS priority
- Before combat, summon the bear and prepare Lotus Blossom and Blue Betty. Start on the correct bar for the first mechanic.
- Weave a light attack into each normal skill cycle. Establish Subterranean Assault, Stampede and the Frost ground effects without delaying a required defensive action.
- Allow both Subterranean Assault hits to land. Refresh after the second hit rather than treating it as a spammable.
- Maintain Cutting Dive, Trap and the scripted damage effects. Use Chilling Knife as the filler when a refresh is not due.
- Place stationary effects where the boss will be. If it is moving, avoid spending several casts on ground effects it will immediately leave.
Stamina Warden DPS priority
- Maintain Netch and Lotus. Open the damage sequence with Deep Fissure so its delayed hits start counting down.
- Apply Stampede, the Frost effects, Fetcher Infection, Trap and Venomous Knife as needed.
- Use Rapid Strikes between refreshes. Respect its channel and avoid clipping the later Deep Fissure hit with an early recast.
- Spend fewer casts refreshing long effects as the target approaches death. Keep attacking instead of preparing damage that cannot finish ticking.
Signet changes the bear decision
Holding at least 133 Ultimate secures Signet’s current maximum stored-Ultimate contribution. Do not press the bear active merely because it lights up. If a cast drops you below the threshold, weigh that damage against the status bonus lost while rebuilding. Near a confirmed kill or a planned burn, spending may be worthwhile; during a long sustained phase, preserving the bonus is the safer starting rule.
Record Warden DPS changes with full-fight damage, not only the best burst interval. A rotation is successful when it preserves useful damage while handling mechanics. Delayed attacks that land on an invulnerable boss do not count as good timing.
09 / Warden DPS in trials: Brittle and support
First decide which buffs the roster needs
Ask who supplies Minor and Major Brittle, penetration, Minor Vulnerability and each useful Banner. A second copy of a named buff does not stack, even when another Warden DPS supplies it. The roster also determines whether your personal critical-damage setup is already capped. Judge a support change by group benefit and mechanic reliability, not by your personal parse alone.
Brittle Warden DPS adaptation
For an assigned Brittle Warden DPS role, replace the two front-bar Null Arca daggers with a Charged Null Arca ice staff, Frost enchantment. A two-handed staff still counts as two set pieces. Use an Infused Weapon and Spell Damage enchantment on the Maelstrom back bar as an adaptation, rather than duplicating the front Frost glyph. Retain the body and jewelry arrangement; replace Glacial Obstinance with Tundra’s Maw.
Brittle bars / ice staff and greatsword
- Front: Wield Soul, Subterranean Assault, Chilling Contingency, Barbed Trap, Winter’s Revenge; Wild Guardian.
- Back: Arctic Blast, Fetcher Infection, Lotus Blossom, Stampede, Blue Betty; Wild Guardian.
Putting Winter’s Revenge on the staff bar enables its destruction-staff damage bonus. Minor Brittle requires an ice staff on the active bar when Chilled is applied; simply carrying one on your inactive bar is insufficient. Tundra’s Maw’s Major Brittle is a separate mastery interaction. Check both debuffs on the priority target, especially while performing back-bar refreshes.
Alkosh is an assignment, not a default upgrade
If your raid asks you to carry Roar of Alkosh, replace the Null Arca shoulder, necklace, ring and front weapons with Alkosh. Keep Aerie’s Cry, Signet, Slimecraw and the Maelstrom back weapon. Its value depends on synergies, debuff uptime and the group’s missing penetration. Do not automatically remove a working damage set when another player already covers the requirement.
Encounter decisions
- Stationary boss: begin with the documented single-target setup. Keep the priority target marked and exploit uninterrupted damage windows.
- Frequent movement: track missed ground ticks and delayed hits. Do not replace Null Arca with another stationary proc simply because a guide lists it.
- Persistent clustered adds: Whorl of the Depths can be tested as a front-bar set alternative when its delayed area effect will connect. A moving or short-lived target can waste it.
- Separated targets or portals: prepare a ranged loadout and agree who handles the mechanic. Neither dagger/Stampede setup is a full ranged solution.
- Progression: replace a damage slot with Resolving Vigor when an independent heal is needed. Keep both bear slots and both Banner slots intact if those effects are part of the loadout.
The source guides also link real encounter footage and reports, including Kyne’s Aegis veteran hard mode and Dreadsail Reef veteran. These are encounter references, not a claim that the 187K dummy result carries into those fights.
10 / Warden DPS trash preset
This specialist alternative draws on Charles’s published U50 trash concept: Draugrkin’s Grip, Sul-Xan, Signet, an inferno front bar and Maelstrom bow. His page describes the then-upcoming patch. Treat it as a build reference, not a verified current-Live trash benchmark. The slot arrangement and practical handling below are our implementation of that concept.

Count: four Medium / three Light. Draugrkin is five pieces on both bars; Sul-Xan is five on the front bar; the arena bow is active on the back bar. Body slots within each weight group can be rearranged. Use 64 Magicka and The Thief; Ghastly Eye Bowl is a damage-and-sustain option only when its lack of extra Health is acceptable.

Trash set trade-off: Draugrkin’s Grip reduces healing received by 10%. Sul-Xan needs a nearby enemy death and collection of its soul. If those conditions are unsafe or unreliable, keep a safer loadout. Draugrkin comes from Unhallowed Grave; Sul-Xan from Rockgrove; the bow from Maelstrom Arena.
Execute the Warden DPS trash pull
- Let the tank gather enemies. Pre-time the delayed damage so it hits the stack instead of the first isolated target.
- Place the bow and Frost ground effects, then apply the remaining effects and use Pulsar while several enemies remain alive.
- Collect Sul-Xan’s proc only when the route is safe. Do not abandon the stack or stand in lethal damage to obtain it.
- Change back to the boss preset before the next encounter. Missing a bear, a set piece or the right food after a trash swap is an avoidable loss.
With no bear active, Signet avoids the summoned-pet reduction. This changes the Ultimate trade-off: a gratuitous Dawnbreaker can still lower sustained status damage. Northern Storm is a possible planned-burn substitution, but spending for it is not automatically stronger than preserving Signet. Confirm the pack lifetime and the next pull before committing.
No full gear swap available? Keep the boss sets and replace a single-target flex skill with an appropriate AoE option. It will not reproduce the specialist preset, but it is preferable to an incomplete five-piece setup. For Warden DPS in short trash pulls, clean positioning often matters more than a long preparation sequence.
11 / Warden DPS Champion Points and consumables
50 points each. These are the four slotted stars in the verified reference captures.
50 points each. Reassess Exploiter if Off Balance coverage is poor.
50 points each. Change utility choices for the encounter rather than ignoring survival to preserve a preset.
Warden DPS food and potions
- Magicka benchmark: the capture shows a maximum-Magicka food with a truncated “Fresh Apples and Eidar Che…” label. The written guide lists Tomato Garlic Chutney. Use an equivalent maximum-Magicka food to match the resource purpose; the differing item names are not silently treated as one exact item.
- Stamina benchmark: Hearty Garlic Corn Chowder and Weapon Power potions.
- Raid food: begin with food that adds Health as well as your needed resource. Move to a low-Health parse food only if your group, mechanics and sustain support it.
- No-Banner Magicka potions: tri-restoration is a practical starting choice because Netch and Lotus already provide the principal offensive buffs. The abbreviated CMX potion label alone does not prove a specific recipe.
- Banner without Lotus: use Spell Power potions for Magicka or Weapon Power potions for Stamina to restore the missing critical buff. Confirm every relevant buff rather than assuming the potion name covers everything.
- Heroism potions: an optional expense, not required to begin. Minor Heroism from multiple sources does not stack; avoid buying a duplicate effect already supplied by your Banner.
Penetration, critical damage and armor
Do not lock a raid Warden DPS setup to the dummy’s armor weights. Check the target’s remaining resistance after group debuffs, then adjust Light pieces or other sources if necessary. Likewise, check critical-damage coverage before adding more of a stat already capped. Keep Aerie’s Cry at five pieces when changing armor weights. The set’s flexible weights make this easier than rebuilding the entire loadout.
12 / Progression and missing unlocks
A Warden DPS character does not need every item on day one. Build a complete, legal setup first; improve it in steps so you can tell which upgrade actually helps.
- Missing perfected gear: use the corresponding non-perfected Null Arca or Maelstrom version. Preserve the functional five-piece and two-piece arrangement.
- No Signet: use a non-mythic damage setup rather than leaving a dead slot. Order’s Wrath is an accessible crafted starting set; rebuild the full slot count around the sets you actually own. This is a progression path, not the quoted parse setup.
- No Scribing: on the Magicka dagger bars, replace Chilling Knife with Screaming Cliff Racer and Chilling Contingency with Fetcher Infection. Because Cutting Dive is the other morph of Dive, replace that slot with Silver Shards or a defensive flex; never attempt to slot both Dive morphs.
- Stamina without Scribing: replace Venomous Knife with Cutting Dive while retaining Rapid Strikes and Deep Fissure. No numerical DPS promise is attached to this simplification.
- Practising without full CP: prioritize the stars and passives you can afford; do not spend points on four incomplete presets at once.
- Need more safety: use appropriate Health food and an independent heal, then practise the actual mechanic. Dead players contribute no sustained damage.
The two reference setups are pure Warden DPS builds. Subclass variants require a separate comparison because they change class-passive and mastery access. They are not a silent upgrade to the same configuration.
13 / Audit your Warden DPS before raid
- Equipment: inspect both bars. Confirm five Aerie’s Cry, five front-bar Null Arca, the arena back bar, the intended armor weights and all enchantments.
- Skills: confirm the correct morphs and scripts. Double-bar the bear and, if used, Banner. Never keep Traveling Knife on a staff bar.
- Buffs: check the effects you lost by removing Lotus, Trap or Fetcher. Assign replacements before combat.
- Ultimate: check Signet’s stored-Ultimate threshold and agree on burn windows.
- Encounter: know where the boss moves, when it becomes invulnerable and who handles ranged mechanics.
- Review: compare full pulls with the same role, target, gear and food. Inspect priority-target damage, missed ground effects, resource starvation, deaths and Brittle or Alkosh uptime.
For a useful Warden DPS test, save the CMX damage and equipment panels together. Include the patch, target, duration, food, scripts and bar setup. A number without its conditions cannot settle a raid gearing decision.
14 / Warden DPS questions
Is 187K realistic on every raid boss?
No. The Warden DPS headline is a rounded 21M trial-dummy result from a documented Live parse. Fight length, mechanics and group composition can produce very different raid numbers.
Is Magicka definitely better than Stamina?
The Magicka Warden DPS reference is higher, but these are not matched tests under identical conditions. Choose the resource setup and role you can execute reliably, then compare controlled attempts.
Should a Warden DPS always carry Banner?
No. Both verified Warden DPS references use no Banner. Carry it when its useful group coverage justifies the slots, resource pressure and lost skills.
Can I keep the bear with Shattered Paths Signet?
Yes. The reference boss builds do. The summoned-pet reduction applies to the Signet bonus; it does not prohibit the combination. Follow the current patch rules rather than an older database number.
Do I need an ice staff for Major Brittle?
Tundra’s Maw’s Major Brittle and ice-staff Chilled’s Minor Brittle are different mechanics. The staff is relevant to the latter. Choose your mastery and weapon to match the debuff assignment.
Why does the trash version have no bear?
It uses a different AoE and Ultimate plan. Removing the bear also changes Signet’s pet interaction. That does not prove the same change is better for sustained single-target damage.
Why are there no guaranteed DPS numbers for the adaptations?
Because no matching verified Live test is supplied for those exact changes. The guide gives you legal configurations and reasons to test them, without attaching an unrelated parse to them.
